Manchester United have kept active contact with people close to Lewis Hall over a possible move for the Newcastle left-back, even as a separate deal for Ederson moves toward the finish line. Fabrizio Romano said United have stayed in touch over the last two, three days, after first making contact with Hall a few weeks ago.
That matters because United are not shopping for one fix. They want at least one more midfielder, a left-back and a left-winger, and Hall remains one of the left-backs they like. Romano said United have genuine interest in the player and really, really love him, which is why the talks have stayed alive instead of fading away.
The Hall pursuit sits beside a move that already looks far more advanced. Corriere Dello Sport reported that Ederson will go for his medical in New York on Sunday, after the match against Morocco, with the deal worth €45 million to Atalanta and sealed almost a month ago to beat Atletico Madrid. The report said only the final formalities remained before signatures, and that Ederson has been called up by Ancelotti to replace the injured Wesley while playing for the Seleção at the World Cup.
That is the friction inside United’s transfer work: one move is close enough to need a medical date, while the other is still in the stage of active contact. United have not, at least from the available reporting, crossed the line from interest into a formal bid for Hall, which leaves the left-back plan open even as the midfielder piece appears close to done. For now, Hall is still the name to watch if United decide to turn late contact into something firmer.
