Torres arrives at the Mundial after scoring 21 official goals for Barça, a total that earned him the Trofeo Zarra of LaLiga alongside Lamine Yamal, and he is expected to start on the right wing against Cabo Verde because Yamal is not in the starting eleven. That is why his words landed now: a player coming off his strongest season was being pushed into transfer noise just as Spain prepared for its first match.
Torres also closed the door, for now, on any immediate contract chatter. His deal with Barça runs until June 2027, and when asked about a renewal he cut the conversation short with one line: he is only interested in tomorrow. That leaves the club with time, not pressure, but it does not erase the fact that his name is already being floated as a possible option if PSG lose Bradley Barcola.
There is a reason the rumor found traction.
