The 31-year-old guard, one of the most productive scorers in European basketball this season, is at the center of a recruitment effort that Qatar pursued behind closed doors.

In the latest EuroLeague season, Nunn averaged 18.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists and one steal across 37 games, production that helps explain why Qatar moved quickly to secure him. SPORT24 reported that the Qatar basketball federation worked in secrecy and used an eight-figure financial offer to persuade him, beating competition from Turkey in the process.

That gives Qatar a significant piece of business done well before the 2027 World Cup opens in Doha, where the national team will be expected to lean on a naturalized player with proven top-level scoring touch. For now, though, the key question is not who Qatar wanted, but when the naturalization will be finalized.
