Instagram pages would not load for many people, and Messenger was also down, making the interruption broader than a single app glitch. Downdetector was reporting user problems across the three Meta platforms, giving a live picture of how widely the issue was being felt.
That mattered because the services sit at the center of daily communication for millions of people, and the outage cut across both social posting and private messaging at the same time.
