are in advanced talks to bring Raúl Jiménez back to Molineux, with the Mexican striker now in pole position for a return once his contract runs out at the end of the month.

The timing matters because Jiménez is preparing for Mexico's World Cup opener against South Africa on Thursday night, and the move has gathered pace while his next club future comes into focus. Wolves confirmed the signing of the day before the Jiménez talks were reported, underlining a busy spell of business as Rob Edwards' side looks to strengthen.

A return would take Jiménez back to the club where he spent five years across two spells, including a season-long loan in 2018/19, and where he produced the most productive period of his Premier League career. He scored 40 goals and added 18 assists for Wolves in the league, numbers that still carry weight inside Molineux as the club tries to build for a push back to the top flight.

That history is why the interest has landed so cleanly. Jiménez knows the club, the crowd knows what he can do, and Wolves are now close enough to make the idea more than nostalgia. Edwards is trying to add experience without straying from the reality of the market, and a familiar forward who has already delivered in the Premier League fits that brief better than most.

There is still one wrinkle. Jiménez is said to be close to agreeing terms with Wolves, but his Fulham deal has not expired yet, so the final step cannot come until the month ends. That leaves the transfer in an awkward waiting period: advanced talks on one side, a live contract on the other.

For Wolves, the next deadline is obvious. If the move is to happen, it should crystallise when Jiménez becomes free at the end of the month, turning a long-mooted reunion into a completed return to Molineux.

Elsewhere, Blackburn Rovers have appointed as head coach in place of Michael O'Neill, Derby County are set for a fight with West Ham United over Bobby Clark, Burnley forward Luca Koleosho is drawing interest from Fiorentina and Bologna, and Lincoln City sporting director has said the club will undoubtedly break its transfer record as it prepares for its first second-tier season since 1961.
