Wu-Tang Clan will take the Knicks Halftime Show at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night, performing at halftime of Game Four of the NBA Finals. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET, and the Knicks enter the night up two games to one after the San Antonio Spurs won Game Three.
The booking gives the Finals a jolt of New York history. Wu-Tang have worked out of Staten Island since 1992, but they have never performed together at a Knicks game, even as their name has long been linked to the city and to the franchise. Method Man has done it alone before, and in 2019 the Knicks reportedly paid him millions to create a music video that put him in a jersey with Kevin Durant’s old No. 35 on it, part of a push to lure Durant away from the Golden State Warriors before he signed with the Brooklyn Nets.
That is what makes Wednesday night different. This is not just another celebrity moment in a building where Timothée Chalamet, Ben Stiller, Spike Lee, Jay-Z, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani and President Trump have already been spotted during the Finals. It is the first time all eyes at a Knicks game will turn to a full Wu-Tang performance, and the group’s appearance lands while all eight members last played Madison Square Garden in July and are now moving through what has been billed as a farewell run, Wu-Tang: The Final Chamber.
The timing also puts the performance inside a crowded stretch for the group. The next North American leg of that tour is set to begin in August and run through October, with induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame due in November. Against that backdrop, a one-night halftime set at the Garden feels less like a filler act than a stop with real weight behind it.
Cardi B performed at Game Three, but Wednesday’s halftime slot carries a different charge because it finally joins the Knicks and Wu-Tang on the same stage in full. Whether it becomes a one-off Finals moment or the start of anything bigger is still open, but the answer to the immediate question is clear: the Clan is set for the stage, and Game Four will belong to them for those few minutes at halftime.
