Enzo Bucchioni said on June 10, 2026 that Milan was trapped in an absurd state of chaos and that Zlatan Ibrahimovic was doing damage in a role he does not know how to handle. Speaking on Tutto Radio Napoli, Bucchioni said the former striker, now part of the club's leadership structure, was not fit for the job as the club struggled to sort out its direction.
The remarks are landing now because Milan, on that same day, had no coach, no sporting director and no administrator, leaving one of Italy's biggest clubs without a clear chain of command. Bucchioni tied that vacuum directly to the search around Ibrahimovic, saying the club's paralysis was already affecting how it handled Allegri and how quickly it could move on basic football decisions.
Bucchioni did not dismiss Ibrahimovic's standing at Milan. He called him a great player and a great personality, then drew the line hard: this was not his world, not his role. In Bucchioni's telling, Ibrahimovic's enormous ego makes the problem worse because he does not manage to share anything with anyone. He described him as a man alone at the top, a figure who carries authority but does not fit the job he has been given.
That is why the criticism cuts deeper than a routine swipe at a club executive. Bucchioni said Milan had been placed in the hands of a fund that does not know football, and he linked the mess around Ibrahimovic to the broader structure around Cardinale and RedBird. He also said Milan would not choose to remove Ibrahimovic while Cardinale is there, but that the situation is complicated because Ibrahimovic is also a partner in the RedBird fund.
There is no clean way out visible yet. Bucchioni said the club was paralysed, and the consequence is not only internal confusion but delay at a moment when Milan should be building for the next season, with roughly a month before the championship begins. Whether the club keeps Ibrahimovic in place or changes the structure around him, the real question now is how long Milan can afford to function without the people it needs to make decisions.
