Police in Morecambe have appealed for information after an electric bike was stolen from a property on Westgate, renewing concern around garage security after the bike was taken from what officers described as a secure garage.

Morecambe Area Police released an image of the bike on social media on Friday and asked anyone who knows where it is, or who took it, to come forward. The appeal comes as the case draws attention because the theft happened despite the garage being described as secure, a detail that has prompted police to remind residents to check their locks and make sure CCTV is in place.

The stolen bike was taken from an address on Westgate before Friday, when officers published the image online in an effort to trace it. For the owner, the immediate question is no longer only how the theft happened, but whether the bike can still be found before it disappears further from view.

Police did not identify a suspect and have not said whether the bike has been recovered. They asked anyone with information about the location of the bike or who stole it to email 5999@.
