A Loganholme woman has discovered she is one of four winners sharing a $1,618,088.73 division one prize in Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw 4683 after a Facebook post from her local newsagency prompted her to check a ticket she had already bought.

The woman from Queensland’s southeast was scrolling through Facebook when she saw the post saying the shop had sold a division one winning entry over the weekend. That was enough to send her straight to the ticket. She said checking it was a big shock. The winning numbers were 10, 31, 44, 30, 43 and 25, with supplementary numbers 4 and 38.

It was the sort of result that can change a household in an instant, but this one came with an odd catch: the QuickPick ticket was not registered to The Lott. That meant there was no direct way to reach the winner and tell her the good news. She had to find it herself, the same way any other player might, by noticing a message on social media and doing the one thing that mattered next.

Darrell Dhnaram, the newsagent behind the post, said the win was the first division one prize since the shop opened. He called it exciting for the team and said they hoped it would bring plenty of joy to the ticketholder and their family, while the local community celebrated alongside them.

The Loganholme winner was not the only one to land a surprise. A man from Baxter on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula was also one of the four division one winners, and he initially thought he had won only $1600. He told The Lott he was confused when called, said the money would help a lot of people around him and added that he had not yet decided how to spend it, though a nice dinner might be on the cards. What remains unresolved is whether the Loganholme woman has already claimed her share, or whether the prize is still waiting for the person who happened to see a Facebook post at exactly the right time.
