In a season where every hint of youth progress is picked apart, the post read like a signal that he is moving toward the next stage.
That attention is not coming from nowhere. Rooney impressed for United’s academy side last season, and he made his Under-18s debut in January before being sidelined for the closing months of the 2025/26 campaign. The timing of the post matters because supporters are now looking for clues about who might be in line for a first-team look when the senior side returns to work.
