Metaphor: ReFantazio is headed to the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 12, 2026, giving Atlus' fantasy JRPG a new home nearly two years after it first launched on other systems. Footage of the game running on Nintendo's next console appeared during the company's June 9, 2026 Nintendo Direct showcase.
For players who have been waiting to take Metaphor: ReFantazio portable, the date is the main answer. The game was already released worldwide on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X and PC in October 2024, so the Switch 2 version extends a multiplatform release that has already covered most major consoles and computers.
Atlus has described Metaphor: ReFantazio as one of the first games from its Studio Zero branch, and the project built its appeal around Will, an Elda who travels with the fairy Gallica after the king's death. The pair head to Euchronia to help save the prince from a curse, and the plan leads them into a competition to become king so they can get close to Louis, the man who left the prince near death.
That setup also leaves room for a broader question that has not been answered: whether the game could lead to sequels. For now, the immediate story is simpler. Nintendo Switch 2 owners will get Metaphor: ReFantazio on November 12, 2026, and the presentation made clear that the game is already running on the system.
The rest of the appeal is the same one that made the original release stand out. Will and Gallica travel across the country, their retinue grows, support from people around them builds, and they learn more about the world they are trying to save. The Switch 2 release now gives that journey a second launch date, and a new audience, without any announced changes beyond the port itself.
