For fans waiting on the next stretch of Switch 2 news, that puts a firm clock on the company’s next big reveal.
The timing matters because Nintendo is coming out of Summer Game Fest with a release calendar that still feels thin beyond the summer stretch. The company has several major Switch 2 games on deck, including Star Fox on June 25, Rhythm Heaven Groove on July 2 and Splatoon Raiders on July 23, but there is nothing currently beyond those releases in the back half of the year. That leaves the June 9 stream looking less like a routine update and more like the place where Nintendo has to show what the rest of 2025 looks like.
Nintendo itself has been direct about the length of the event, saying, “The Nintendo Direct will be roughly 50 minutes and Nintendo Treehouse: Live will be 95 minutes.” That is a long runway by the company’s standards, enough time for game announcements, deeper looks and live gameplay after the main presentation ends. What Nintendo will actually show is still the open question. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is due in 2026 and does not yet have a release date, and the next Pokémon game is not set to arrive until next year, so there is room on the calendar for the company to fill if it wants to keep momentum moving into the holidays. That pressure is sharper now because Nintendo is also raising Switch 2 prices, making the case for a stronger lineup more important than ever.
The next step is simple enough, even if the content is not: Nintendo’s Direct and Treehouse Live events arrive on June 9, and that is where fans should expect the first real answer on whether the company has more than a few near-term releases to carry the Switch 2 into the second half of the year.
