Marshals has started production on Season 2 in Park City, Utah, with Luke Grimes back in scenes as Kayce Dutton. The Yellowstone spin-off is moving ahead fast, and new episodes are set to arrive this fall.
The timing matters because the series ended its first run with a cliffhanger that left Pete Calvin and Belle Skinner-Turek in immediate danger. In the finale, they were led to a house where two men with big guns opened fire, turning the show’s last moments into a hard stop rather than a clean finish. That kind of ending makes a production start more than a routine update; it tells viewers the story is already being pushed toward the next turn.
Grimes’ return is the clearest sign of continuity for a show built around Kayce Dutton, the former Yellowstone Ranch hand who joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals and uses both cowboy instincts and Navy SEAL training to bring range justice to Montana. Marshals is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, with Spencer Hudnut serving as showrunner and Taylor Sheridan among the executive producers. The series also averages 20.4 million multiplatform viewers across its first eight episodes, a number that helps explain why the studio is moving it back into production without much delay.
A production photo also shows Ash Santos returning at least for the premiere episode, All Hat No Cattle, even though there is still no confirmation on which other main cast members are coming back. That leaves the ensemble partly in view and partly in shadow, with Andrea Cruz’s status especially notable because she could leave Montana in the story. The uncertainty fits the way the first season ended: with some characters clearly in motion and others left hanging at the edge of danger. For now, the confirmed path is narrow but clear — Kayce is back, the cameras are rolling in Utah, and Marshals is headed for a fall return with at least its first new hour already named.
