A man is in hospital with serious injuries after an assault on the Falls Road in the early hours of Sunday morning, and police have arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
Police said they received a report at about 2.15am of a man with a head injury whose wounds were consistent with an assault. Officers and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service went to the scene, and the injured man was taken to hospital for treatment.
The case has now shifted from an emergency callout to an active inquiry. The man’s condition is described as serious, but police have not said what led to the assault or identified the victim, leaving key questions unanswered as detectives try to piece together what happened in the west Belfast area in the hours before dawn.
