will now headline the BMO Pavilion at on June 25 after dropped out of the Milwaukee festival because of an unforeseen scheduling conflict. Fans who bought reserved seats for the show will be refunded through the point of purchase.

The replacement matters now because Summerfest starts next week and the June 25 booking is one of the festival's better-known reserved-seat shows. Those seats are still available for $76.75 at the box office and on summerfest.com, and they include Summerfest general admission on that date.

Summerfest officials said the change came in an email sent June 8, the same day they announced Common as the new act. The Roots had been set for the BMO Pavilion, one of the festival's marquee venues, and their exit was abrupt enough to force the booking change almost immediately.

The Roots are the seventh noted act to drop out of the Milwaukee music festival for 2026, a run that has already included and . Megadeth canceled in April and was replaced by on July 4, while Jeremih also canceled in April because of undisclosed medical reasons and filled that headlining slot on June 19. Pussycat Dolls were also slated to headline a bonus Summerfest show at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater on June 21 with guests Lil' Kim and Mya, but that North American tour was called off earlier this month. Enter Shikari announced May 15 that it was scrapping its North American tour, which included a June 19 set at Summerfest's Miller Lite Oasis, because of ongoing visa issues.

That still leaves one hole in the schedule. Summerfest officials moved quickly to replace The Roots, but Enter Shikari's 8:30 p.m. slot had not yet been filled, a reminder that the festival's June 18 to 20, June 25 to 27 and July 2 to 4 run still has gaps to close before the gates open. is also set for two bonus concerts at the amphitheater on June 16 and 17.

For June 25 ticket buyers, the immediate answer is clear: Common is in, The Roots are out, and refunds will be handled where the seats were purchased. The remaining question is how many more of Summerfest's late changes the festival can absorb before opening day.
