Katie Price has publicly declared her love for Lee Andrews as she waits to hear whether she can see him in a Dubai prison before she flies back to the UK on Friday. The reality TV personality posted on Instagram Story on Saturday 6 June: “I love @wesleeeandrews.”
The message was a fresh show of support for Andrews at a moment when speculation around the marriage has been building fast. Price and Andrews have been married for five months, and the post landed just days after she returned from visiting him in Dubai. She also shared a photo of herself wearing a huge diamond ring, even after she had been pictured without her wedding ring and rumours of a split began to spread.
Price has already said the situation is urgent. On Thursday, she said time was running out to help her husband before she left Dubai, adding that she still needed to hear back from his lawyer about whether a prison visit would be allowed. “I still need to hear back from his lawyer if I can get a visit to see him, and it's Wednesday, and I go on Friday. Time is running out,” she said. On Facebook, she said she believed payment could secure Andrews’ release, telling followers, “I know he's in a prison. I've been told if two cases are paid they'll let him out. I'm going to see if that's true.”
Price has said Andrews disappeared after failing to fly from his home in Dubai to the UK, and at the end of May claimed he was being held in Al Awir prison on suspicion of being a spy. Reports have also said he may need to pay a £100,000 fine to be released, while other claims have tied his detention to a private civil matter. The conflicting accounts have left Price trying to work out whether a payment, a visit, or both are still possible.
What happens next now turns on two answers Price does not yet have: whether Andrews can be released, and whether she will be granted time with him before she leaves the UAE. For now, she is still trying to find out if her husband will walk free, or if she will have to settle for a half-hour visit and whatever explanation he is willing to give when she gets there.
