have started exploring a surprise move for winger , with the 17-year-old now their main target on the left side of attack. Liverpool, though, are saying the same thing in response: he is not for sale.

That is why Ngumoha is suddenly drawing attention beyond Merseyside. He signed his first professional deal in September, tying him to Liverpool until June 2028, and his rise has been quick enough to put him on Bayern’s radar while they weigh several attacking options. The player is aware of the German club’s strong interest, but Bayern have not yet made contact with Liverpool.

Ngumoha’s numbers explain the growing noise around him. He made 29 appearances across all competitions in 2025-26, scoring two goals and adding one assist, a return that has helped keep him in Liverpool’s plans despite his age. He is also training with the senior team in Florida ahead of the World Cup, even though he will not be part of ’s squad for the tournament.

Liverpool’s position is not passive. The club plans to strengthen the wide areas rather than weaken them, and it did not bring in a direct replacement when moved to Bayern last summer because Ngumoha’s emergence changed the equation. That makes any move from Munich more complicated than a simple talent grab, even if and the board are driving the interest.

Bayern have been casting a wider net as they look to refresh an attack built around , and Diaz, with the first two now in their 30s, Gnabry entering the last year of his contract and Diaz soon to turn 29. The German champions chased Anthony Gordon this summer and had also looked at Köln’s Said El Mala, who recently rejected a move to Brentford, but Ngumoha is the name now sitting at the top of the list for the left flank. James Pearce put Liverpool’s stance bluntly, saying the idea they would even consider selling Ngumoha this summer is ludicrous. The next step is straightforward and unresolved: whether Bayern turn interest into a formal approach, or whether Liverpool’s refusal ends the chase before it starts.
