has officially named his next game gen ATLAS, and he showed the first new trailer for it at . The project was previously known as Project Robot, but the title reveal gives it a clear identity at last.

The timing matters because Ueda has spent years away from a full public reveal, and fans have been waiting to see what his new studio, genDESIGN, was building after . This is the first game from that studio, and it will reach PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC through the , making it the first Ueda game not locked to .

Ueda, the creator of Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian, said he and his team are grateful to the fans who have followed the project and said their passion has motivated and inspired the studio. The trailer and a press release framed gen ATLAS as a single-player, open-world, action-adventure game set on an abandoned planet where a silent world is filled with colossal structures, deserted facilities and an ever-changing sea. The teaser also points to a colossal robot waiting deeper in the mystery, with its power opening paths to places that were once out of reach.

That reveal leaves the biggest question untouched. No release date or release window has been announced yet, even after the game was formally titled and shown. Ueda has finally put a name to the project, but the one detail that players want most is still missing: when gen ATLAS will actually arrive.
