Creative Assembly showed a new trailer for Alien Isolation 2 at Summer Game Fest, giving fans their first clear look at the long-awaited sequel and the direction it is taking. The footage confirmed that the survival horror game is moving beyond the ship setting of the original and out onto a colony planet.
The trailer also showed that the Xenomorph is still very much part of the nightmare, stalking the player through vents and passageways even as the action shifts into new terrain. Dark woodlands and crash sites were among the environments shown in pre-alpha footage, a sign that the sequel is trying to widen the world without loosening the pressure that made the first game endure.
That pressure matters because the original Alien Isolation came out over a decade ago, and this is the first substantial look fans have had at what comes next.
