The Isle of Man TT’s Senior race was delayed, cut to four laps and then red-flagged after an incident on the second lap at the 11th Milestone, ending a day that had already been reshaped by schedule trouble. The race was due off at 18:15 local time and had been set to become the fifth contest of the week.
That delay mattered because Michael Dunlop had already won both the Supersport and Sportbike races earlier today, putting him within reach of a rare sweep as the Senior TT lined up. The atmosphere on the mountain course had been building around that possibility, but the start kept slipping back as the program absorbed one interruption after another.
Earlier in the day, the schedule was pushed back by an hour after a road traffic collision on the mountain road. Before the Sportbike race, another delay followed a non-racing operational matter, and the week had already been broken up by repeated stoppages since Tuesday, when only the Supersport class managed to run and even that was shortened to three laps.
By the time the Senior TT finally got away, the race had already been trimmed from the usual six laps to four. Dean Harrison had won the Superbike TT earlier in the week, while the Senior had not been run since 2024, when Davey Todd took the win after Peter Hickman’s victory in 2023. The event had the feel of a race meeting trying to recover from the calendar rather than build toward it.
The red flag came with the field only on its second lap, and the Isle of Man TT said the stoppage was for an incident at the 11th Milestone. The rider involved was taken to Noble’s Hospital, but no further detail on what caused the incident was given. That left the biggest race of the week hanging at the point where the day’s earlier momentum had finally begun to return.
For Dunlop, the result earlier in the day already stood as a major achievement, and the broader picture is now the repeated delay rather than any single race. The schedule has been battered all week, the distances have been reduced, and the Senior TT never got the clean run it needed to settle the question on the road.
