Latto used her new album Big Mama to send a message that sounds aimed straight at Cardi B. On “Gimme Dat,” she raps about having “a Hermes store in my closet,” then adds a line about someone talking about buying “big mama a bag” as if it had not already been bought.
That is why listeners are parsing the song now. The lyric lands after a leaked call from last fall, in which a voice thought to be Cardi’s called Latto “pu**y ass Latto” and hurled a string of threats, including “I’mma beat her the f**k up,” “I’mma knock her the f**k out,” and “Y’all think I’m f**king pu**y ass Latto?”
Latto does not name Cardi in the song, but the reference is hard to miss. She follows the Hermes line with, “Wish a b**chs would get in that booth/ I’m callin’ up PlaqueBoyMax,” another bar that keeps the record pointed at the same dispute. The song gives the rumored feud a new public chapter at a moment when both rappers already know how closely fans are listening.
Cardi tried to cool things down after the audio spread. She apologized on social media and wrote on X, “I was ranting and hot at the moment but I fck with Latto HEAVY!!” She added that she respected Latto and her team and said she was willing to make a public apology before privately buying her a bag. The apology did not stop the new song from arriving with lyrics that sound like a response anyway.
There is still a missing piece at the center of the leak: when exactly the call was recorded. Some fans pointed to July 2024 because Spice attended an Empire State Building event that month, but that remains speculation. What is certain is that the dispute has moved from a private recording to a song released for the public, and that is where it is likely to stay unless one of them chooses to explain it in the open.
Latto and Cardi were not strangers before this. They had already worked together, and they reunited for Cardi’s “Errtime” remix in September 2025, less than a week before the call leaked. That history makes the new lyrics sharper, not softer: the woman Cardi said she respected is now the one who appears to be answering her back.
