FX has given its untitled Snowfall spinoff a name: The Drop: A Snowfall Saga. The series, led by and , is set to premiere later this year on FX and , with international viewers able to watch on .

The title reveal is the first clear sign of how FX plans to move the story forward after Snowfall ended its six-season run. Bean and John return as Wanda and Leon, characters who pick up shortly after the original series closes and push into 1990s Los Angeles, where West Coast rap is still fighting for wider attention.

That matters because the spinoff does not simply recycle the old show’s ending. Instead, it shifts the focus to a different kind of struggle: Wanda and Leon trying to take rap mainstream as gang wars erupt and record labels move in to exploit hip hop culture for their own gain. The cast around them includes , and , along with Mykelti Williamson, Nicki Micheaux, Brandon Mychal Smith, Isidora Goreshter, Eric Balfour, Richard Portnow, Zaire Adams, Demetrius Grosse and Snowfall alum Quincy Chad.

That forward motion carries extra weight because the original series ended on a far darker note. Franklin Saint was left homeless and wandering the streets after losing his fortune, his wife and their unborn child, a ruinous ending that makes the new series’ attention to Wanda and Leon feel like a deliberate turn away from collapse and toward reinvention.

The Drop: A Snowfall Saga was put into development in 2023 as Snowfall was ending and was picked up to series in November 2025. The exact premiere date is still missing, but FX has already put the new title on the record, and that means the next step is not another announcement — it is the launch itself.
