Ferrari has locked Charles Leclerc in for the coming seasons, announcing a new multi-year agreement with the 28-year-old driver and extending one of Formula 1’s most familiar partnerships. The deal keeps Leclerc in red as Ferrari heads into its home race week with one of its leading names already tied to the team long term.
Leclerc said he could not be happier to continue his journey with Scuderia Ferrari HP, calling the team much more than a place of work. He said it had been the team he loved and dreamed of joining as a child, and that after all these years it had become a second family. That kind of language matters because it comes from a driver whose bond with Ferrari began before his Formula 1 debut, when he joined the Ferrari driver academy in 2016 and started a path that carried him through a Formula 2 title in 2017 and into Formula 1 with Sauber in 2018.
He stepped up to the Scuderia for the 2019 campaign and has since become the driver most closely associated with Ferrari’s modern hopes, with famous Monza victories in 2019 and 2024 and an emotional home win in Monaco last year. Leclerc is already second only to Michael Schumacher for appearances with Ferrari, a sign of how deeply rooted he has become in the team’s history.
“Together we’ve shared incredible moments and some tougher ones,” Leclerc said, adding that he believes in Ferrari more than ever and is deeply grateful that they will keep pushing side by side toward the shared aim of bringing the world championship back to Maranello. He said being a Ferrari driver is both a dream and a responsibility he never takes for granted, and vowed to give everything he has to take the team back to the top for Maranello and for the tifosi.
Team principal Fred Vasseur called the renewal natural, saying Leclerc has been part of the Ferrari family for many years and has grown into one of the strongest drivers in Formula 1. Vasseur said the Monegasque is completely at one with what Ferrari represents, and that the team values his talent, his determination and the way he works with the people around him on and off the track. The one thing Ferrari did not spell out was the exact length of the new deal, leaving the full terms of the agreement behind the announcement.
