The sighting matters because it puts two faces from the 11-season series back in public view at a moment when White remains one of the busiest actors in Hollywood and Hampton has her own post-Shameless run behind her. White played Phillip “Lip” Gallagher on the show, while Hampton was Veronica Fisher, Fiona Gallagher’s best friend and confidante.
For fans of the series, the outing lands after a string of reminders that the cast still circles back to one another. White and Hampton were among several Shameless alumni who reunited on the picket lines during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, alongside Noel Fisher, Isidora Goreshter, Steve Howey and Zach McGowan. Hampton later led NBC’s Found from 2023 to 2025 as Gabi Mosley, while White moved from the ensemble that made him famous into awards-season projects of his own.
That is part of what makes this latest sighting notable. White once said in a 2022 interview that he had complicated feelings about the long run of Shameless, saying he stopped feeling like an actor and started feeling like he was just there to do the show. He called it an upsetting head space and said that as the series wound down, he was questioning whether he did anything beyond it. Yet he later showed up publicly with former castmates, and now he has been seen out again with Hampton.
Whether the hike and lunch were just two old coworkers catching up or something tied to a project was not explained.
