Gordon & MacPhail has teamed up with Sir Kenny Dalglish on a limited-edition whisky collection built around five pivotal moments in his life and career, with the first release due in October 2026. Only 15 Sir Kenny Dalglish Vintage Moments box sets will be made available.
The launch is aimed at private clients looking for ultra-rare single malts, and it gives the whisky firm a new way to turn one person’s story into a bespoke release. The concept centres on five whiskies distilled in years that match significant moments in a client’s life, with each bottle hand-drawn from cask and bottled at cask strength.
Dalglish, born in 1951, said narrowing a life filled with major memories into five years was far from simple. He said he was delighted when Gordon & MacPhail approached him to celebrate his Vintage Moments, adding that choosing the specific single malts was an experience in itself and that he is looking forward to sharing the stories behind the selections. For a man regarded as one of the greatest strikers in post-war British football, and still one of Celtic’s, Liverpool’s and Scotland’s most admired figures, the project attaches whisky to a career already defined by landmark moments.
The collection is the inaugural release of Gordon & MacPhail’s new personalised Vintage Moments concept, under which a small number of private clients each year will be invited to sample single malts and choose five whiskies linked to pivotal years in their own histories. Gordon & MacPhail said each bottling will be the only expression of that particular single malt ever to exist, a claim that underlines how tightly the release is being controlled.
That exclusivity is matched by the company’s stock position. Stephen Rankin said Gordon & MacPhail is the only Scotch whisky company in the world with stocks from every vintage going back to 1948, and said many of the whiskies were laid down by his grandfather, George Urquhart, known as the father of single malt. The company also said its inventory runs from 1948 to 2023 and includes spirit from more than 100 Scottish distilleries.
But the key details are still being kept back. The five chosen vintages, along with the presentation and pricing, will not be revealed until early October, even though the first collection itself is scheduled for release that month. People hoping to secure one of the 15 sets can contact Gordon & MacPhail directly ahead of the launch, leaving the central question in place for now: which years from Dalglish’s life will make the final cut.
