The full set of second-round fixtures was completed at the Hodson Bay hotel in Athlone, and the games will be played on the weekend of June 13th and 14th.
The draw gives the 16 teams in the second round their immediate championship road map. Eight sides who won their opening matches go into Round 2A, where a win guarantees a quarter-final place with a game still to spare. Eight losing teams go into Round 2B, where defeat means elimination from the championship.
Monaghan’s tie with Roscommon stands out because they are at home again, while Kerry were handed what has been described as a generous job in Kildare but still have to travel. That detail matters in a draw where there were no home-or-away rules, and nothing was certain until the names came out one by one.
Elsewhere, Derry will play Meath, Dublin will play Cavan, Donegal will play Cork, Galway will play Westmeath, Louth will play Armagh and Tyrone will play Mayo. Tyrone and Mayo met in the All-Ireland final in 2021, which gives that fixture a familiar edge even before a ball is kicked.
The open format leaves little room for comfort. A strong opening round now puts teams one step from the last eight, but one bad day in Round 2B ends the campaign immediately. For Monaghan, the draw has delivered Roscommon and a home game, but the real test begins on June 13th and 14th, when the bracket turns into results.
