The new exhibition, Barbie to Anna Karenina: The Cinematic Worlds of Sarah Greenwood and Katie Spencer, puts the focus on the two production designers who helped shape the 2023 live-action Barbie movie into one of the year’s most recognizable film worlds.
Visitors are not just seeing costumes and images on a wall. The museum is showing video interviews with Greenwood, Spencer and members of the cast, along with scale models of Barbie’s perfect cul-de-sac, Ken’s Mojo Dojo Casa House and the beach that helped define the film’s look. For fans searching for the Barbie movie at the museum now, the draw is a chance to see how that pink universe was built, piece by piece, rather than just how it played on screen.
The exhibition is also built around the work of Sarah Greenwood and Katie Spencer, not the film’s plot.
