Jasmine Muller has brought her past relationship with Arsenal defender Héctor Bellerín into the conversation just days before Love Island season 13 starts on 1 June. The 27-year-old fashion business owner from Dubai said the relationship has shaped how she looks at dating, but insisted there is no drama attached to the split.
That is drawing attention now because Love Island hits screens on 1 June at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX, and Muller is entering the villa with a backstory viewers already know about. She spoke with Digital Spy and other press ahead of the launch and said she has been in the public eye with an online job since she was 19, which she believes has prepared her for the scrutiny that comes with the show.
Muller said she and Bellerín ended things on good terms and that she does not spend time thinking about the relationship day to day. She also said there is “not really any drama or anything interesting to say about it,” adding that they both have “a lot of love for each other.”
What matters for the new season is not the old romance itself, but what it says about the standards Muller is bringing into the villa. She said she has dated “some really great people” and had “very good positive experiences,” but that those relationships have made it harder to find someone who measures up, because she has been “measuring people to a very high standard from such a young age.”
That leaves Love Island UK 2026 with a contestant who is not trying to hide her past, only to move past it. Muller said she feels prepared and hopes to find something “really exciting and honest,” which puts the focus squarely on whether the next connection she makes can match the expectations she is already carrying into the villa.
