Mendoza arrives after throwing for 3,004 yards and 16 touchdowns as a sophomore at Cal, and his move to Bloomington gives Curt Cignetti another quarterback to develop in a program that has made a habit of exceeding outside expectations.
That is why readers are looking at this list now: it is less a ranking than a forecast about which players could become household names by the time the 2026 campaign arrives. Indiana has already shown how quickly that can happen under Cignetti. Kurtis Rourke won the 2022 MAC Offensive Player of the Year at Ohio before putting up 29 touchdown passes in his only season at Indiana, and the school’s transfer success has become part of the pitch around Mendoza’s arrival.
Fox Sports did not stop with one quarterback. The list stretches across the sport, including players whose résumés already hint at major production in 2026.
