Jj Bleday kept his early surge going Monday night, hitting a solo home run in the third inning and drawing a walk in a 7-2 win over the Mets. He finished 1-for-4, but the one hit was his seventh homer in just 25 games this season.
That kind of production is why Bleday’s name is drawing attention now. Since being promoted in late April, he has put up 15 runs and 21 RBI in 106 trips to the plate, and the underlying numbers back it up: his.415 xwOBA is almost a mirror of his.414 wOBA. Luck has not looked like much of a factor in the run he has put together.
The part that invites caution is obvious enough. Seven home runs in 25 games is a loud start, but it is still only 25 games, and the question hanging over Bleday is whether the power can survive a longer stretch once pitchers keep adjusting. For now, he has done the one thing that matters most for a hot streak: keep forcing the conversation after every game.
