He said his parents’ divorce, his mother’s relationships and the jokes that followed left him emotional, and he became extremely choked up while talking about both Larsa Pippen and Scottie Pippen.

The renewed attention is landing now because Preston’s remarks are part of the fourth and sixth episodes of the series, where he speaks directly about the strain the family has lived with for years. Larsa Pippen and Scottie Pippen divorced in 2021, but Preston said there is no age when it feels comfortable to learn your parents are divorcing.

Preston also said his mother was in a “weird place” and in the middle of “a new relationship [as] per usual,” a line that points back to the rumors that followed Larsa Pippen for years. She denied having an affair with rapper Future during her separation from Scottie Pippen and has said the marriage was already over before the links to Future surfaced. Those denials did not stop the story from sticking around in public conversation, and Preston said people he thought were his friends would make jokes about his mother and Kim Kardashian’s friendship.

That friendship has now fizzled, at least from Preston’s point of view. Preston said his mother and father do not communicate today, a blunt detail that shows how fully the breakup has settled into separate lives rather than a temporary split.

He said he is now removed from the drama and that it is easier to talk about, but the rawness in his voice suggests the damage from the years of rumors, divorce and public teasing has not disappeared.
