Robert Wagner marked his 36th anniversary with Jill St. John by posting a photo of himself kissing her on the cheek. In the image, St. John has her eyes closed as the pair wear matching black blazers, a quiet snapshot of a marriage that has lasted more than three decades.
Wagner, 96, wrote that it had been 36 years of love and laughter with his beautiful Jill and wished his wife a happy anniversary. The post came as the couple continues a public tradition of marking milestones online, with Wagner often using the anniversary and birthday messages to show the warmth that still defines their relationship.
Their story began long before they married in 1990. Wagner and St. John first met in 1950 on the set of Fox Studios, then later worked together in How I Spent My Summer Vacation in 1967. Their lives also crossed through loss and time: St. John sent flowers and condolences to Wagner in 1981 after Natalie Wood died in a drowning accident, and the two met up again two months later.
By the time they wed, the connection had already been tested by decades of separation, remarriage, and grief. Wagner’s family history also reaches across generations, with three daughters in his blended family, including Kate, 61, Courtney, 51, and Natasha Gregson Wagner, 55. St. John turned 85 in August 2025, and Wagner publicly wished her a happy birthday then, calling her laughter, love and sparkle the light in every room and in his life.
They have lived in Colorado since 2007, on a 7.5-acre property after leaving Los Angeles. That setting has become the backdrop for the later years of a partnership that began in studio corridors, survived years apart and ended up lasting 36 years in marriage. The photo Wagner shared makes the answer plain enough: the anniversary was not a passing note, but a celebration of a bond that still holds.
