James H. “Jim” Blosser Jr. of Defiance died Saturday, May 23, 2026, at his residence. He was 66.
Blosser was born Dec. 27, 1959, in Rome, New York, and later made his home in Defiance. He served as a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and spent more than 25 years working as a foreman at Johns Manville, a span that marked much of his working life.
He was also a charter member of West Ohio Iron Coffins MC and liked riding his motorcycles. Beyond that, he spent time working on cars and guns, hunting, being outdoors and collecting silver, interests that filled the days he was not at work or with family.
He is survived by his daughters, Lindsay Dietsch, Mallory Straka and Emiley Blosser; his grandchildren, Kinley, Brody, Whitney, Izzy and Kira; his brothers, Brad Brehm and Chris Blosser; and his sisters, Pam Moody and Paula Markley. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew Josh Ginoza.
The obituary, provided by Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., lays out the arrangements for family and friends to gather in Defiance. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson-Roessner Chapel, followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. Pastor Thomas Ordway will officiate, and Blosser will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family or to a charity of the donor’s choice. The details are straightforward, but they make clear the shape of the loss: a veteran, a longtime worker, a rider and outdoorsman whose family and friends will meet again on June 2 to say goodbye.
