Plane Jane is taking another swing at reality competition television, this time on Project Runway Season 22. People officially confirmed the cast on Monday, and the lineup includes the RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 alum among 22 designers, the largest cast in the show’s history.

The casting gives Project Runway a familiar flashpoint before the season even starts. Plane Jane drew attention online a few months ago after photos from the set leaked, fueling rumors that she had landed a spot on the show. Those rumors are now confirmed, and she joins a field that also includes Robert Crone, known as Q, Joseph McRae, who is back for another shot at the grand prize, and Jennifer Daniels, who is moving from the runway as a model to the workroom as a competitor after appearing in four seasons as a Project Runway model.

The size of the cast is the first thing that stands out. Season 22 will feature 22 designers, a high-water mark for the series and a sign that the show is leaning into a broader, more crowded competition as it returns this summer. Heidi Klum is back to host, with Law Roach and Nina Garcia returning as judges and Christian Siriano again serving as mentor to the designers.

For Plane Jane, the move extends a reality TV run that began on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 and kept her in the orbit of competition television after that. The article says she did not do as well on House of Villains, but Project Runway gives her a different stage and a different test: whether a personality built for confessionals can also survive the pressure of garments, deadlines and critique.
