The full NFL schedule dropped on May 14, and for road-game travelers it immediately brought one venue back to the top of the wish list: SoFi Stadium. After two Lions games in Los Angeles, one against the Chargers and one against the Rams, the building was the clear standout among the 11 stadiums I’ve visited in recent years.
That was not just about the football. The exterior looked every bit as sharp in person as it does on TV, and the interior concourses were ridiculously nice. Walking through them felt less like navigating a football venue and more like moving through a luxury hotel, with a layout that gave the place an upscale, polished feel from the moment you stepped inside.
SoFi Stadium’s scale is part of the appeal, but its design also helps it function. There seemed to be an endless stream of escalators linking different sections, and they did more than move people around. They also helped gatekeep the sections, which kept some areas from feeling overcrowded even when the building was full of people trying to get to their seats, grab food or just take in the place.
The food situation matched the building’s overall vibe. Options were plentiful, fancy and varied, and that variety matters because lines for some of the more premium items can get ridiculously long. If you want to eat well at SoFi, the safest play is to buy early and avoid waiting until the rush hits.
The biggest drawback is everything around the stadium. The immediate surroundings are barren, and there are no walkable hotels worth staying at near the venue. That means SoFi is not the kind of place where you can step out of the building and turn the night into an easy stroll. It is built for the event itself, not for a lingering district around it.
Still, the logistics were better than expected. Parking at the nearby Forum was easy and convenient when booked in advance, and getting in and out by car was faster than anticipated. For anyone building a 2026 stadium rankings and travel guide around road games, that combination of a top-tier interior and workable car access makes SoFi one of the easiest places to recommend, even if the area outside the gates still leaves plenty to be desired. Tony Jefferson has also said the Chargers’ Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium makes any ring chase feel special, a reminder of how much the building has already become part of the league’s biggest moments.
