is recalling more than 43,000 model year 2024 Tundra pickup trucks after federal regulators said debris left behind during manufacturing could contaminate the engine and lead to a dangerous loss of power.

The recall covers about 43,566 vehicles and is listed as recall number 26V320. Regulators said debris inside the engine could cause the main bearing to fail, which can trigger engine knocking, rough running, stalling or a failure to start at all. If the engine stalls, the driver could lose drive power suddenly. The said the crash risk rises, especially at higher speeds.

The issue matters because the Tundra is a full-size pickup often used for long trips, hauling and towing, where a sudden engine stall can be more than an inconvenience. Toyota had not immediately responded to a request for comment, and a remedy has not yet been finalized. Owners of affected trucks are expected to receive notification letters by July 6, and once Toyota completes the repair, the fix will be provided free of charge.

The expands on two earlier actions tied to similar engine contamination concerns. Those recalls, issued in May 2024 and November 2025, involved certain Toyota and vehicles, including some 2022 through 2024 Lexus LX and Toyota Tundra models, along with some 2024 Lexus GX vehicles. NHTSA’s recall report did not immediately list any crashes, injuries or deaths connected to the defect.

Toyota has been under heavy recall pressure in recent months. In March, the company recalled more than 550,000 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid vehicles over a seat-back locking issue, and earlier this year it recalled roughly 141,000 Prius and Prius Prime vehicles because rear doors could unexpectedly open while the vehicle was moving. For now, the question for Tundra owners is not whether the trucks are included — they are — but how quickly Toyota can finish a repair that keeps an engine problem from turning into a sudden loss of power on the road.
