A car overturned on Narborough Road in Leicester’s Westcotes area on Monday, May 25, after a collision that drew a fast police response to one of the city’s busier roads. Images from the scene showed a vehicle on its roof close to the Shell Petrol Station.
It was not immediately clear how many vehicles were involved in the crash, but police said they were called out after reports of a collision on Narborough Road and were assisted by crews from East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service. No injuries were reported.
West Leicester Police said: “Thankfully, we’re very happy to report that no injuries were sustained - a great outcome considering the circumstances.” The force also reminded drivers to take extra care while out and about, adding: “Please remember to stay safe in the heat, keep hydrated, and take extra care on the roads.”
The warning came as temperatures topped more than 30C across Leicestershire, a stretch of heat that can make busy roads like Narborough Road harder to navigate, especially when traffic is heavy and conditions are hot. That is why the detail that mattered most on Monday was not the overturned car itself, but the fact that no one was hurt.
For police, the outcome turned what could have been a serious roadside emergency into a reminder about summer driving conditions. The collision left a car on its roof in a prominent spot near the Shell Petrol Station, but the response from emergency crews and the lack of reported injuries meant the incident ended without the worst possible consequences. In that sense, the answer to the only question that really mattered on the day was clear: everyone walked away unharmed.
