Raaw Energy expanded a recall of frozen dog food on Friday after federal officials said testing found Listeria monocytogenes in several samples. The company said the move was made out of an abundance of caution and comes after it temporarily halted all dog food production last Thursday, May 21, 2026.
The recalled pet food includes Beef and Chicken, Beef and Turkey Medley, Chicken Medley and Hybrid Dog’s Best Friend, manufactured between July 17, 2025, and Dec. 23, 2025. One batch of Beef and Turkey Medley dated March 31, 2026 is also covered. The products were sold in 2-pound and 5-pound clear plastic tubes packaged inside brown cardboard boxes and distributed through the company’s website and pickup locations in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Lisa, the recall notice said, was expanded after FDA testing detected listeria in several samples, and the company said it stopped production while it addresses sanitation concerns. Listeria monocytogenes is a potentially deadly bacterium that can sicken both pets and humans, and officials warned that contaminated pet food can spread the bacteria through bowls, countertops and utensils that come into contact with it.
For people, infection can bring nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever and muscle aches. In severe cases, the illness can move into the nervous system and lead to meningitis, pregnancy complications or death. The FDA also warned that pets exposed to contaminated food can be infected without showing symptoms, which makes the recall more urgent for owners who may not see a problem before it spreads.
The latest expansion puts the focus on what happens next inside the company’s production line, where sanitation concerns have now forced a shutdown of all dog food manufacturing. For pet owners, the immediate task is to check whether any of the named products came from the affected dates and distribution points, because this recall is not just about a bad batch — it is about a contaminant that can move quietly from the food to the home.
