A 30-year-old woman died after being shot outside One Four One on West Street in Sheffield city centre in the early hours of Monday, in a sheffield shooting that left three people under arrest.

Police said officers and paramedics treated the woman at the scene at about 02:45 BST before she was taken to hospital, where she later died. Her family has been informed, but she had not yet been formally identified on Monday.

The arrests came during the first hours of the investigation. A 30-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were held near Stockport, while a second 30-year-old man was arrested in Sheffield. All three remained in custody for questioning on Monday.

Assistant Chief Constable said the death of the young woman was “a devastating incident” that happened while she was on a night out during the bank holiday weekend in Sheffield. He also said police would maintain a “significant presence at the scene in the area today and in the coming days.”

West Street was closed between Mappin Street and Westfield Terrace, with Eldon Street, Westhill Lane and part of Orange Street also shut as drivers were urged to avoid the area. The closures pointed to a city centre still under strain after a shooting that unfolded outside a bar on one of Sheffield’s busiest late-night streets.

What happens next is the investigation itself: the woman’s formal identification, the questioning of the three suspects and the work needed to establish why gunfire broke out outside a bar just after 2:45 in the morning.
