Helio Castroneves is chasing Indianapolis 500 history again, and the woman who has been beside him for much of that run has just reached a milestone of her own. Adriana Henao recently turned 50, adding a personal marker to a relationship that has stretched back at least to 2009.
Castroneves, 51, has won the Indianapolis 500 four times and is tied with A.J. Foyt, Al Unser and Rick Mears for the most victories in the race’s history. He first claimed the Borg-Warner Trophy in 2001, then won again in 2002, 2009 and 2021, a record that still puts him in the center of every conversation about the race’s greats.
Henao has lived a public life of her own, even if it has rarely been on the same stage as the driver’s. The Florida-based fitness instructor says in her Instagram bio that she strives for “empowering women to thrive in wellness & beyond,” and her posts mix travel photos and videos with glimpses of a life built around movement and family. She ran the New York City Marathon in 2014 and later started a pajama company with her daughter.
The couple’s relationship has been public for years but deliberately low-key. They have been dating since at least 2009, when news broke that they were expecting a child. That same year, Castroneves said marriage was the “natural next step” with Henao, though the two have never officially tied the knot.
That gap between public commitment and official status has become part of their story. Castroneves has built one of the most decorated résumés in Indy 500 racing, while Henao has kept her own identity outside the paddock, and the pair have managed to stay linked without turning their private life into a spectacle.
For now, the most important date on the calendar belongs to Castroneves and the race he keeps trying to conquer once more. If he wins again, he will move from a tie at the top into a place no one has reached alone. If he does not, he remains exactly where he has been for years: one of the defining names in Indianapolis 500 history, with Henao beside him and another chapter still open.
