Fantasy Football Scout has opened voting for the midfielders in its 2025/26 Team of the Season awards, with 12 contenders in the mix and each user allowed five votes. The top two midfielders will definitely make the Team of the Season, and the poll stays open until Tuesday 26 May at 23:59 BST.
Bruno Fernandes arrives as the clear statistical benchmark. He equalled the orthodox Premier League assist record in Gameweek 37, supplied his 20th assist of the season and now has one game left to try to match Luis Suarez’s Fantasy record of 25. Fernandes has created 132 chances, 58 more than the nearest midfielder, and has 32 big chances created, 13 more than Rayan Cherki. He has also scored eight goals, taken 84 shots and amassed 221 Fantasy points, just 26 short of the 244 he posted in the 2020/21 season.
That is the kind of season that gives the midfield vote its shape. Public voting is deciding the Team of the Season awards, and the midfield category is one part of a wider process that also includes goalkeeper and defender races in related headlines. Fernandes is not the only name with a case, but his numbers are the ones the other contenders must measure themselves against.
Antoine Semenyo is the nearest rival on points, with 195 to his name, and his route to that tally has been built on sustained production. He scored five goals in his first eight league matches for Man City, then added 10 goals, five assists and 120 points in 20 starts for Bournemouth. He also collected 75 points in a sky-blue shirt, scoring six goals and adding one assist for Man City, while registering 60 shots in the box in 2025/26. Semenyo even scored City’s winner in the FA Cup final.
Declan Rice also brings a different profile to the vote. He has four goals, nine assists and 26 defensive contribution points this season, making him the third-highest scoring midfielder in the game. Rice has taken 46 free-kicks, more than any other player, and produced 12 successful deliveries from them, a reminder that the midfield pool is not built only on open-play chance creation.
The tension in the poll is that Fernandes has separated himself so far on creation, while the rest of the field is split between scorers, set-piece specialists and all-rounders. Cherki is the closest midfielder to Fernandes for big chances, but still trails by 13, and no one is close to matching the Manchester United captain’s 58-chance lead. With the vote open for only a short window and the top two guaranteed a place, the final midfield spots look set to reward both volume and versatility.
For Fernandes, Tuesday is not just a deadline for voters. It is the last chance in a record-chasing season to turn a statistical surge into another Fantasy finish that can stand beside the 244-point campaign that set his previous high.
