Michail Antonio weighs retirement as he talks to clubs after injury comeback

is weighing up whether to keep playing, with the 36-year-old saying he has been talking to a few clubs and could possibly retire. The forward said he expects to make a decision by the middle of June or the end of June.

Antonio told that the next step is still open. “I’ve been talking to a few clubs,” he said. “We’re going to see what they offer but in the back of my mind, I’m thinking I could possibly retire.” He added: “I’m not too sure yet, we’re just going to weigh up everything that comes our way and make a decision probably by the middle of June, or the end of June.”

The uncertainty comes after a disrupted year that began with a badly broken leg in December 2024, when his Ferrari crashed into a tree. Antonio returned to action last June for Jamaica at the , but he never played for again after coming back from the accident.

His future had already been shifting before that. Last summer, Antonio was out of contract and came close to signing for and . He later moved to Qatar in March to join on a deal until the end of the season, making only a handful of appearances before that agreement expired.

The brief spell in Qatar leaves Antonio once again at a turning point. After 10 happy years at West Ham, he is now deciding whether there is one more chapter left in his career, or whether the next move will take him away from the game entirely. His memoir, , is also due to launch.
