Filming on began in Liverpool, England, on Thursday 21 May, and the first leaked images from set quickly gave fans a glimpse of Gotham’s return. Photos and video circulated online the same day, showing a stunt double for ’s Bruce Wayne, a damaged and snow-covered vehicle, and a new logo for the film on an Alexa265 camera at the location.

The sequel is now scheduled for release on Friday 1st October 2027, after being delayed twice. It was first pushed back in October 2025 from October 2025 to October 2026, then delayed again in October 2026 by another 12 months to October 2027. That long gap has made progress on the film look slow, but filming finally beginning gives the project a visible step forward after months of waiting.

Part II follows 2022’s The Batman, and director used X last week to add more fuel to interest around the sequel. He introduced new cast members joining Pattinson and confirmed that would appear in the DC film, along with , , Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch. Reeves did not say what roles any of them would play.

His posts came with the kind of teasing tone the franchise has leaned on before. One read, “Next exit, Gotham… Welcome.” Another said, “In a Gotham state of mind… Welcome.” They offered no plot clues, but they did make clear that the cast is growing even as the studio keeps the story locked down.

The new filming images matter because they show the sequel has moved from announcement language to an active shoot, even if the production has already lost two release windows. The leaked material also underlines how closely fans are tracking every detail of a film that has spent years in development and has given little away beyond its cast list and new date.

What comes next is straightforward: more filming, more leaks and, eventually, a final build toward the October 2027 release. For now, the clearest answer is that The Batman Part II is no longer just a promise on a calendar — it is on the street in Liverpool, camera rolling and Gotham back in motion.
