A man’s jaw was broken after he was punched in the face in an attack outside a bar in Weston-super-Mare on Saturday, April 25, and police are now appealing for witnesses. The victim was sitting outside Vinnie’s in West Street at around 8pm when two unknown men approached him and argued with him about moving from the table.

One of the men then punched him in the face, leaving him with a broken jaw. He needed hospital treatment and is now recovering at home.

said they had spoken with the victim and with the bar, but there was no suitable CCTV covering the area where the incident happened. That has left officers relying on people who were nearby at the time. Police believe several people were outside the bar when the assault took place and may have seen what happened.

The suspect is described as white, very tall and covered in several tattoos. He was wearing a T-shirt and shorts. Officers said anyone who can help should call 101 and quote reference 5226127756.

The case matters because, without CCTV, the evidence may come from whoever was standing outside Vinnie’s that evening. For the victim, the injuries have already meant hospital treatment and a slow recovery at home. For police, the next step is straightforward: find the witnesses who saw the argument, the punch or the men who walked away.
