Tom Hardy has been reported as fired from MobLand ahead of season 3 production, even as season 2 is still set to feature him. The claim, first reported by Puck News, lands as the Paramount crime drama continues to build momentum and leaves one of its central performers facing a sharp turn after the current run.
MobLand is one of Paramount's best-performing series outside Taylor Sheridan's slate, and the first season pulled a 76% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics. Guy Ritchie has said MobLand season 2 is expected toward the end of the year, but there is still no official release date. Emmett J. Scanlan said the second season wrapped production in March, which makes Hardy's reported fallout all the more striking now, while viewers who follow the show on Paramount+ are still waiting for the next batch of episodes.
Hardy played Harry Da Souza, the street-smart Portuguese-born fixer and hitman who serves the Harriman crime family, and his personal life on the show has been strained by the pressure of that role. Harry's marriage to Jan is already frayed by his work, the stress that comes with it and his loyalty to Conrad and Maeve. That tension helped make MobLand a draw, especially alongside stars such as Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, who were part of the ensemble Hardy was said to dislike being asked to share the spotlight with.
The reported split also fits a longer pattern of allegations around Hardy on past productions, including Mad Max: Fury Road and Lawless. According to the report, the conflict behind the scenes with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser included claims that Hardy was often late during season 2 filming, gave unwanted notes on scripts, changed dialogue and expressed frustration with the series' ensemble setup. Butterworth was also said to have threatened to quit. Paramount had not commented and Hardy had not commented at the time of writing.
For now, the clearest answer is that MobLand season 2 is still on track to bring Hardy back to screens, but season 3 appears to be where the break has already happened. That leaves Harry Da Souza's future intact for the next chapter and uncertain after it, which is exactly where the story now sits.
