Sony has set its next Playstation State of Play for Tuesday, June 2, giving fans a date two weeks ahead of the broadcast and putting Marvel’s Wolverine at the front of the show. The event begins at 2 p.m. PT and 5 p.m. ET, and Sony says it will run for more than 60 minutes with updates, announcements and gameplay reveals from studios around the world.
The timing matters because PS5 players have been waiting for a real look at Marvel’s Wolverine, and Sony is making the reveal the lead story rather than burying it in the middle of the presentation. That is not the only unusual part. Sony picked a Tuesday, not the Thursday slot it often uses for State of Play, and it chose to announce the stream two weeks in advance, a longer lead time than is typical for these events.
Insomniac Games will show more from its upcoming third-person action-adventure game, and Sony says the footage will highlight Logan’s brutal and relentless combat along with some new details. The game is set to launch on September 15, 2026, and Sony has said it will remain exclusive to PS5, making the broadcast one of the most closely watched PlayStation moments of the year.
That exclusivity gives the showcase extra weight. Sony has spent the spring keeping players engaged with the wider PlayStation lineup, including recent PlayStation Plus additions such as Star Wars Outlaws and Red Dead Redemption 2, while also managing attention around past service problems, such as the PlayStation Network outage that disrupted users before service was restored. Against that backdrop, a major Wolverine reveal helps reset the conversation around the platform itself.
What Sony has not said is just as important as what it has. The company has described the show in broad terms, promising “more than 60 minutes of updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from top studios around the world,” but it has not laid out the full slate beyond Marvel’s Wolverine. That leaves room for surprises, but the first image of the event is already clear: Sony wants the June 2 broadcast to be remembered for Logan, and for a PS5 audience that has been clamoring for exactly this update, it finally is.
