Emily in Paris is ending with season 6, and production on the Netflix comedy’s final run started in Greece today. Lily Collins and creator Darren Star marked the start of filming with behind-the-scenes photos from Greece, signaling that Emily’s next stop after Paris is now on camera.
The farewell comes after the season 5 finale left Emily with a postcard from Gabriel, sent from Greece, and an invitation to meet him there. Collins said season 6 will deliver everything fans love about the series and serve as the final chapter in Emily’s adventure of a lifetime, while Star called making the show with its cast and crew the trip of a lifetime and said he was grateful to Netflix, Paramount and the fans who took the journey with them.
That ending lands after a long run for a show that first got a series order in 2018 at Paramount Network before moving to Netflix ahead of its debut in 2020. From there, Emily in Paris became one of the streamer’s most visible global comedies, spending 32 weeks on the Global Top 10 list and reaching No. 1 in 90 countries. It also became a tourism story as much as a TV one, helping draw attention to France, with French President Emmanuel Macron publicly praising its role in bringing visitors there.
The series has also been as much about style and online chatter as plot, inspiring fashion trends and memes along the way. But the final season’s move to Greece gives the ending a different feel: a show built on Parisian wish fulfillment is closing somewhere else, with Emily literally following the postcard that pulled her out of France.
