Alabama Barker was back on Instagram on Sunday, May 17, with a fresh set of photos that put her in a bright yellow swimsuit, a busty bikini covered in silver studs and yellow mini shorts. She posed on a grass lawn in one image and captioned the post, “Loving my @sumwon_women 💛,” keeping the attention on the outfit and the brand tag.
The new post arrived less than two weeks after Barker posted a separate series of sultry looks from Miami on May 8. In those images, she wore a beige crochet top and white thong during the day, then switched into a printed crop top and matching maxi skirt for the evening. One frame from that dump showed her sitting at the edge of a boat in a white mesh skirt with a fringe hem, and she wrote, “Miami I love u 💋.”
The photos fit a pattern that has followed Barker for months. In January, she brushed off a critic who wrote, “If I wore that when I was your age, my parents would kill me,” replying simply, “Aw.” When another user asked whether her father, Travis Barker, had bought the lingerie she was wearing, she shot back, “ur pushing 40.”
That exchange came after Barker publicly addressed the lingerie conversation in December, saying Travis Barker bought her lingerie for Christmas and that Kourtney Kardashian picked it out. She later repeated on TikTok that Kardashian chose the pieces. In one longer response, Barker said: “I have to go on a f------ rant. Why the f--- are you guys trying to make this lingerie thing a thing? It’s never going to be a thing, Gretchen,” adding that Kourtney Kardashian had selected the items and that the gift had been on her Christmas list.
Barker, 20, has continued to lean into high-glamour posts even as the scrutiny has followed her across platforms. On April 20, streamer N3on gifted her a Birkin bag in an X post that showed her opening a large orange Hermés box. Barker first said, “Oh my god, I don't even wanna look,” then erupted into excitement as she opened it, saying, “Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god! Oh my god, I love it! … I’m gonna throw up. Oh my god, I'm gonna have a f------ panic attack.”
What makes the latest set of images matter is not the swimwear alone, but the speed with which Barker keeps turning her own feed into a public battleground over style, age and family approval. The Sunday post followed the May 8 Miami photos, which followed the January replies, which followed the December lingerie comments. Barker is not stepping away from the conversation; she is keeping it going, one photo dump at a time.
For now, the answer to the question her critics keep asking is visible in the posts themselves. Barker has made clear she is going to keep wearing what she wants, posting it where she wants and leaving the backlash to play out in the comments.
