A car landed on its roof after a crash in Plymouth on Tuesday afternoon, forcing a lane closure on Plymouth Road and slowing traffic through the area.
Plymouth Highways reported the crash on the B3416 Plymouth Road eastbound near Woodford Avenue at 2.44pm, and an ambulance attended the scene.
National Highways said drivers were facing a 40-minute delay after the collision, while Inrix reported queues stretching from the A38 Marsh Mills Roundabout to Woodford Avenue.
The crash happened on the eastbound carriageway of Plymouth Road, where traffic monitoring showed congestion building on surrounding roads soon after the incident was reported. The lane closure kept traffic moving slowly through a stretch that is heavily used by local drivers heading across the city.
The immediate question for motorists was how long the disruption would last, and the answer was already clear from the traffic reports: the delay had reached 40 minutes, with queues feeding back to the A38 Marsh Mills Roundabout. For drivers trying to cross that part of Plymouth, the impact was not limited to one lane — it spread quickly across the network.
