Carson Daly filled in for Sheinelle Jones on Monday’s Today With Jenna & Sheinelle, and Jenna Bush Hager said her co-host would be back in Studio 1A on Tuesday. Daly used the hour to talk family, college plans and the odd way he now keeps up with his daughter on Snapchat.
Jones had spent Sunday speaking at the 2026 Momference conference in Washington, D.C., then reposted a fan’s video from the event on her Instagram Story with a note that captured her mood: “I had such a beautiful time! Thank you for having me!” By Monday morning, Daly was sitting across from Bush Hager for his first appearance on the show’s fourth hour since he co-hosted Today With Jenna & Friends in November 2025.
The visit turned quickly to Daly’s home life. “There’s never a dull moment in the Daly household. We have four children, as you know,” he said, describing a house where his eldest child, Jackson, has turned 17 and is now “looking for colleges now.” Daly joked that he is “looking for real estate around the university” and added, “In my mind, I’m going with him to college.” He also said he downloaded Snapchat a few months ago so he could communicate with his daughter Etta, and admitted he has talked with her more that way than in person. “I can say, ‘Are you okay?’ And then, I’ll put some stupid emoji,” he said, before adding that she replies with “LOL” and other messages flying “all over the screen.”
Daly also gave a quick update on the rest of the crew, saying 11-year-old London is “doing awesome” and describing 6-year-old Goldie as “a riot.” Bush Hager said her youngest three children are the same ages as Daly’s youngest three, and she noted that her children with Henry Hager — Mila, Poppy and Hal — still think they are cousins even though the families have not spent time together recently. The exchange underscored how the hour has become as much about the co-hosts’ family lives as the day’s television, and Jones’ return on Tuesday will restore the show’s regular pairing after a one-day substitution.
